Renovating for a Party

Let’s say you’re planning on throwing a dinner party, but your living space is a little on the bland side. Naturally, you’re going to want to do some renovating and/or redecorating, but where do you start? While it can seem like a daunting task, there are a few basic design principles that can guide you on your quest to create a great atmosphere in your home in time for your dinner party. Here are some tips to make the most of your space.

First of all, consider the theme you want your home to evoke. For example, let’s say you want your home to have an oceanic feel to it. How can you accomplish that goal? Well, there are a few ways to get across that vibe, and it starts with colors. When we imagine the ocean, a few colors come to mind: blues greens, and the aptly named hybrid, seafoam. So, consider repainting walls or replacing furniture to add these colors to your space. You may also want to counterbalance those colors with complimentary colors, such as yellows and oranges, or reds, or neutral colors like brown and grey.

Next, consider decor. Going with the oceanic theme mentioned above, some decorations evocative of our theme can be things like seashells, for starters. You can also use either the theme appropriate colors, or their complements, in decor, such as vibrant flowers or even paintings. While it may be a bit kitschy, you can also use themed items like a seashell lamp to convey your theme., but this route is not for everyone.

Lastly, don’t forget to make sure you’re looking your best for your guests. Throw together a great, semi formal look that’s sure to impress. Stuart Weitzman can be a great place to find the perfect footwear for your look, so make sure you dazzle your guests, both with your home, and your outfit.
